The Miseducation Project

March 2023 - October 2023
Description
The Miseducation Project (TMP) is a platform for the Miseducation team at the Michigan Daily to showcase the artwork of under-represented communities in a variety of media. The website displays art from 19 artists at the University of Michigan, as well as over 70 other education recommendations to learn about and appreciate minority artists.
My work
My work entailed translating the Figma prototype into a fully functioning website that is also mobile responsive. With Next.js dynamic routing, I created individual artist pages for the 19 artists with a table of contents to allow for quick and easy access to all of the artists’ work. I chose Tailwind CSS to encourage a mobile-first approach when designing the pages. I find media queries to be easily forgotten until the last second, but, with Tailwind CSS, we were able to rapidly build responsive and maintainable components.
Project Management
From March to the end of April, I managed 3 other developers to develop the landing page. Over the summer, I continued development independently creating the reminaining five pages. The site went through several rounds of feedback with the Miseducation team’s leadership. By September, I was able to accomplish all of the leadership’s desires and deliver a final version of the site to the copy team where it currently awaits approval.
Tech: React, Next.js, Tailwind CSS, Typescript
